Fuss Free
New Moon Pads are easy to wash and they dry quickly,
either in the dryer or on the line. The easiest way to clean
your pads is to just toss them in with your regular laundry and launder
as usual. Wash in cold water (hot water sets blood stains). If you prefer, you can soak them in a lidded container filled half full of cold water. It's just a matter of personal preference. Either way, the pads will still come out clean. If soaking them, be sure to change the water daily. Pads can also be washed out very easily by hand. Wash pads before initial use.

To Set Colors
To set colors add a cup of vinegar or salt to laundry water when new items are washed for the first time.  This “sets” their colors so they don’t bleed onto other items.  Always wash like colors together, never with pale or white items.

Shrinkage
Pads are made with all new fabrics so there will be some shrinkage with laundering, though it will not affect the absorption properties of each style as I've designed them the dimensions they are to accommodate shrinkage. With cottons, final shrinkage will be approximately 5% to 7%.

How to Remove Stains
In most cases, just regular laundering will keep most pads stain free, though if you do find a pad or two with any staining you can squirt hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain and let it soak in, making sure to launder the pad before the hydrogen peroxide dries. If it will be a little while before the pad goes into the laundry, keep it moist with water once the hydrogen peroxide has done it’s job. If your pads have no PUL and no plastic snaps they can also be boiled for a couple of minutes. All styles of New Moon Pads can be boiled. If you're using a different brand of pad, please be sure to check with the manufacturer as to whether or not they will stand up to boiling. Remember that boiling will also fade any prints and cause extra wear and tear on the pad fabric so should only be done as a last resort.
Did You Know?
Putting a cloth pad on straight from the dryer while it’s still warm (or leaving it in the sun to warm up) helps to ease menstrual cramps.
