New Moon Cloth Menstrual Pads ~ Laundering Care
New Moon Cloth Menstrual Pads ~ Laundering Care
Until ready to launder you can either soak pads in a lidded container filled half full of cold water or you can "dry pail" your pads...just keep them in a lidded container with no water (or just toss them in the laundry hamper...there really isn't that much mess involved...really). It's just a matter of personal preference. Either way, the pads will still come out clean. If soaking them, be sure to change the water daily. To launder just wash in a regular wash cycle along with regular laundry (though it is recommended to not put them in with whites for obvious reasons). Can be dried in the dryer or on the line. That's it. Thought it was going to be hard, didn't you? Also, if you're out and about, take along a waterproof bag to store used pads until you get home (check out our "wet bags").
HOW TO REMOVE STAINS
In most cases, just regular laundering will keep most pads stain free, though if you do find a pad or two with any staining you can squirt hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain and let the pad sit until ready to launder. If your pads have no PUL and no plastic snaps they can also be boiled for a couple of minutes. All styles of New Moon Pads can be boiled. If you're using a different brand of pad, please be sure to check with the manufacturer as to whether or not they will stand up to boiling. Remember that boiling will also fade any prints so should only be done as a last resort.
